What We Believe

There are two aspects of what we believe – the creedal and the practical. The Church has done a marvelous job setting the forth the parameters of orthodoxy (right belief) for 2000 years and we stand firmly in that tradition. Our Creedal standards are found in the Apostles Creed, the Nicene Creed, and Chalcedon.  A more mature and complete expression of our beliefs are found in the Westminster Confession of Faith.

Directly related to the creeds and confessions is the full assurance that the ordinary means to bring people into the Kingdom is through the preaching of the Gospel, announcing that Jesus Christ, by his death, burial and resurrection is both Lord and Messiah.  “But how are they to call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent?”  Jesus came preaching and he ascended commanding us to preach.  The Apostles devoted themselves to preaching and prayer.  Charles Spurgeon, known as the Prince of preachers, said, “It would be very easy to prove that revivals of religion have usually been accompanied, if not caused, by a considerable amount of preaching out-of-doors, or in unusual places.”  The heart of our ministry is the preaching of the Gospel.
